This is my all time favorite card, i have approximately 4.5 thousand icys. I have a ton from each set, including Alpha, Beta, Foils, etc. Love the artwork, love what it does, simply put: I <3 Icys!

I can see why so many old players like this card. It's one of the only Alpha cards that hasn't become broken or to weak to play.

The only thing that irks me about the Manipulator the mana cost. A lot of powerful spells these days have a converted manacost of 4, which means that you'll either have to choose between one of them or this. If you can accelerate it, then by all means, the Manipulator is great. But in that case, you would perhaps be better off just playing another 4cc spell that much earlier :/

The control player's safety blanket. After all these years ridiculously solid. From defense, to locking out lands to turning off monoartifacts. And of course there's delicious combo material to be found here. Pair it with Meekstone and suddenly your serra angel will again be a force to be reckoned with!

The Manipulator is a great example of what a great card is. It can be used well is a great number of decks, but it doesn't ever break the game by itself. Very versatile. In recent years (the last decade) this card has become less useful, as many old cards have, but it remains very handy. If you are a new player, this is something to experiment with. Scour the internet for this card's usefulness. It never has the best answer to any problem, but it always provides an answer to any problem. Up there with Birds of Paradise and Lightning Bolt in my book.

And simply stop artifact's from happening.
This card with an un-tap card, such as Voltaic Key is amazing.
