I can't remember if this had any impact on Constructed, but if not, why the hell not? It's effectively a 5/6 with something nearly as good as haste for 4 mana (5 counting the land you put it on, if you want to attack right away), even if it does mean one of your lands is too busy smacking your opponent upside the head to produce mana with for the rest of the game. Certainly this was an outstanding, almost unfair, Limited card.

I agree, in any deck with some mana acceleration this card would rock, especially if played on turn 3.

Because if it dies you effectively lose 2 cards, and it becomes useless if you need that land to cast creatures or whatever, its not as good as it looks.

Yea, there are certain downsides to animating lands - especially if your opponent has a Doom Blade and untapped lands... Still, this is an solid beater or, at the very least, blocker. if you're up against a red burn deck, your opponents will usually waste at least two or sometimes 3 cards to take your land down, which means you'll rarely loose any card advantage against the red player. On the other hand, this card is terrible against black, since a single Doom Blade will cost you both the land and the enchantment...

A 5/6 with haste for 5, with the risk of losing two cards at once, is pretty bad.

@Jeff With all the land hate in this set, it was probably easier to remove than your average creature.

why is there so much aura hate? theres a downside to every permanent, we all know auras being lost is bad, but this is kind of getting to the point where every aura says "dies to doom blade"

5/6 haste for 5 is nothing to scoff at.

I love how people mentioning Doom Blade all the way back in Prophecy. If that's how it's gonna be, then why not add that it's a treefolk and how amazingly strong that tribal is! A Timber Protector makes this a 6/7 indestructible, not to mentions all the land shenanigans you can build off it.
Also people seem to forget that you pay a high price for a real contender.
