How vastly improved would this be if it didn't come into play tapped? That's one of the longest-running things wizards does that needs to go away (besides printing worthless cards). Having a land come into play tapped does not balance the land, it makes it completely unplayable, except in rare cases.

@Laguz: Except in this case, you'd have something that's strictly superior to a Forest (basic land types aside). What would you do instead, have yet another case of life loss in lieu of entering tapped? (Compare Flood Plain and Flooded Strand) Not everyone likes running the ragged edge of disaster by largely ignoring their life pool.
What's everyone in such a rush for, anyway...?

A cute Amulet of Vigor is the perfect answer to so many 'problems' involving "Enters tapped" effects. (especially when combined with some Kamigawa fun so every card enters tapped...) It IS a balance, making it so you can't just play it, then sac it for the dual mana. In some decks that's all you NEED to hit hard (why do you think triple-mana lands are SUPER rare? As in, one, and won't ever see reprint.) Dual mana is 2/3 of a Black Lotus, you really should know, and NOT having it come in tapped is the problem that happened with the original Lotus.
And, this isn't so bad, really. The ability to produce dual-mixed mana is a great ability (really, doesn't anyone ELSE love original Ravnica's dual-lands? {stupid wimpy new Gates...}) which they HAD been trying to keep from breaking. But, since then, they've all but completely given up on ideas like balance and actual trade-offs, but when used in the way it was made for, it's a GREAT card! Because of the game-style shifting, in current playstyles, yes, it's practically worthless. That's doesn't make it a BAD card, just not much good anymore.
Also, it's sacrifice effect can be good too: About to lose it to Land destruction? Sac it for extra mana, then burn your opponent.
I really need to get some friends and play some Classic rules: Pick a year, and only cards that have a printing from that year or earlier can be used. Or even specific years (only 1993/2003/2013, for example)... that would be REAL shenanigans!
