A better version of deathtouch against white creatures. Doesn't require damage being dealt, simply destroys white creatures as a triggered effect as soon as they are declared blockers.
Still, pretty mana-expensive for what is, at best, a 2 damage repeat swinger against a white deck that can still be blocked if they have creatures to spare.

Color-change was rampant in Invasion. This combo'd with a Tidal Visionary and many other cards in the set made some good limited tricks.

And better yet, it's not a demon. SO Screw off, Baneslayer.

@BegleOne: I totally agree with you. Also, how many good black common flying creature exist for 4CMC?
@All who may be concerned: Why ever analyse card from oldest block with Baneslayer (and before her, it was Tarmogoyf)?? I'm so tired of this kind of commentaries... And you talk about common vs mythic rare... It's like talking about Wheat and Caviar...
According to its wording, it can technically destroy white creatures with Protection from Black. PoB means:
1) The creature cannot be damaged by a black source, 2) the creature cannot be targeted by a black source, and 3) the creature cannot be blocked by a black creature.
Slayer's ability doesn't violate any of the above, so it can kill PoB white creatures.

Cyberium's right, dunno who downrated his comment
Although the player with Akroma, Angel of Wrath (or whatever other white pro-black flier) on defense will probably just not block it.

Lure and Painter's Servant. Clear's the skies. Works better with its brother Phyrexian Reaper, of course, but a one sided Wrath effect with the creature surviving is nothing to scoff at.
Not saying he's great, but he can do a lot of things that other creature's can't. Like kill Progenitus.

Got a foil in an Invasion Pack. Shame it had no defense against white spells, otherwise it would be grade A sideboard material.
