A 3 drop mana accelerator = fail.

I think it's supposed to be a counterpart to Brothers of Fire.

For red it seems okay.

A little underpowered. If it cost 1Red, or even RedRed I'd say decent for a 2/2 with mana acceleration. As it is, I can just say "I've seen worse."

I think that this card might see a bit of a comeback. Yes, the Iron Myr is better, but I for one have great success with this card because my Myrs keep getting Shattered or Naturalized.

Isn't 2/2 body now a days concidered way better than 1/1 body? In my days pingers were round every corner and you couldn't play wit 1/1 creatures unless you had tons of removal yourself.

Back in it's time it was good. 3 mana for a 2/2 that taps for mana? Not horrible by any means. It's still more viable than a lot of the jank produced in today's era of cards.

No, even "in the day" this was a terrible card.

Not so bad. It is a red Bear plus llanowar elf... the only thing is it lost the power and toughness of the elf.

I feel like a modern day version of this could be a 2/1 red creature with the same ability for casting cost RedRed. I wouldn't go so far as to give red a one drop though as that's totally green's territory. I shaved 1 point of toughness away along with that extra mana because I am not fond of "strictly better" cards unless the first one was total crap to start with. Why two power instead of two toughness? > Red likes to live on the wild side.
