I never actually transformed this guy in my sealed tournament. He did a lot of damage though, especially equipped with Mask of Avacyn.

Even WITHOUT the transformation, it would be a solid black flier (compare to Dusk Imp and Tethered Skirge).

This card is a little missleading. It's easy to think "cool, cast on turn 3, transform on turn 4." In retrospect, you can't play the land before your upkeep. Opps.

Good, even if you never transform. It should be a high priority draft, and basically decent for any deck that can run it. It's just plain above the curve for fliers in black.

This is a great card. You get a 2/2 flyer for 3 and when you're low on creatures, you have a 5/5 for 4 in the background. It's an awesome investment card.

I have played with this card a lot in casual games, and I have to say it's a really cool card. After it's initial coolness of bat -> vampire wears off, most players dismiss it as limited chaff, which is kind of unfair. This is by no means constructed playable right now, but it could have been.
I so wish this were a 1/1 flying for B, that you could transform any time. While still keeping it's cool factors, that would have been so much more playable in U/B decks :(.
