great to cast but equip cost is too high, with Puresteel Paladin though this would be pretty good in limited. Surprised to not see this as common.

Why such a high equip cost on 90% of living weapons? Why ruin such a great concept?

@ Stronos:
The equip cost needs to be high like that. Otherwise, these cards would be nutty in limited.
Still, I doubt it'd be as nutty as the original Mirrodin limited. Loxodon Warhammer was an UNCOMMON.

I knew a guy who had one of those.
It wasn't pretty.
Anyone else a little concerned by how it's holding that knife and staring at you?

Pretty nice card here. It's a colorless Gray Ogre that can be used later on to make other dudes better.

@Sironos and Richard_Hawk: These things already are pretty dang good in Limited. As Poly said, if the equip was lower they'd probably unbalance things. Getting both a dude and a later buff in one card shouldn't be undervalued.
2.5ish is pretty much exactly right for this guy; he's simply a colorless body who buffs a guy later. I won't really be sorry to include him in almost any deck I draft, but I'm also certainly not going to leave many other picks behind to get him.

Several cards from this cycle have silly and alliterative names. Sickleslicer (pity the kid with the lisp), Tangle Angler and Torpor Orb are the three that come immediately to mind. Little poems.

The card itself is great and balanced, but I just wish it were a common. Would make it easier to get, reliable in a draft, and could replace a useless common for all i care *cough* Rotted Hystrix *cough*

it's a nice card for White-Artifact decks, This + Mentor of the Meek + Puresteel Paladin
have the Mentor and Paladin on the field, play this and pay 1 colour-less to draw 2 cards, you can also equip it for free via the Paladin's other ability(assuming your have 3 artifacts).
the preferred target is another white card, which would be a Kemba, Kha Regent. turning it into a token generator
