Sweet art, and not a bad card either.

This card was always pretty good in limited formats, and hell I even used to play him in some casual constructed. Why? Because card draw on a critter is good.

Also, I usually hate new art and new borders, but damn, Stephan Martiniere needs a medal.

Holy crap, Idra's been Phyresised!
^ Corny Starcraft joke
Anyways, the Rager is a very solid deal, and I'm happy to see him back with some pretty sick new art.

What I really like about this card is how much the art looks like the original and yet is different enough to really work. It has the same basic body shape, just an updated style that really captures it. As for mechanically, it depends on what you're doing--a 2/2 for 3 that lets you draw a card isn't bad, and in the right deck it can work really well. Still, the art is really good, it just makes the card. It's intimidating, a little creepy, and in a twisted phyrexian way awesome looking.

I absolutly love this card! Probably my favorite art from the new set. He looks so epic and scary that I feel he should be more powerful than a 2/2 though.

Great artwork on this one! Much better artwork than the previous cards that bore its name!

agree that it "looks" too strong to be a 2/2, maybe it's really small in size? can't tell from the arts perspective.

I really like it when they choose to reprint older cards.

Nothing like knowing you already have a play set.

I love how his name means Phyrexian boner.

@blindthrall: I like how they don't censor 'boner' but they censor half of analysis.

Great card. Will never see play in phryrexian decks given the Poison format.

Very solid Card, half a night's whisper with two legs - nice.

@Buderus: I think you miscounted legs.

@GruesomeGoo: "I wouldn't be Mirran because I have self respect."

Beautiful artwork. Reminiscent of late 80s, early 90s scifi movies and a great new look for Phyrexia alongside Phyrexian Vatmother.

As for being a 2/2, I imagine him to be approximately human height - look at his skull and ribcage. Your average human footsoldier is a 1/1, so this guy (Phyrexia's footsoldier) would be a match for two soldiers, which seems reasonable.

My friend said he didn't like this card because a card draw isn't worth a life, I tried to explain card advantage but he was unreceptive.

4 Stars.

One of my favourite cards; feels exactly like a black card should, powerful, versatile... now with incredible new art :-)

This is a card I have in foil. It is the sexiest, most gorgeously holographic card I have ever seen

The old flavor text was much cooler - It takes no prisoners, but it keeps the choicest bits for Phyrexia.

That was corny, and awkwardly meta outside of MTG. Nevertheless, I loled.

I love this creature. Great in MBC. My only wish is that it was a ZOMBIE instead of a horror when it came out.

It works well in B/R aggro. Drop it on turn three or later, use it to grab something off the top of your library, swing in the next turn with the benefit of whatever extra thing you drew.

Oh, if only you were a zombie. Then my (standard) zombie tribal deck would be fantastic.

In the old art he's got a blue dude by the throat. Does anyone know who or what that blue dude is?

He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.

I use this in a deck with some lifelink so I can gain back the life lost to this card and the two mana black card draw. This card is awesome with Dark Ritual, although not my first choice for turn one but you gotta play what you gotta play.

Beautiful art is beautiful.

The recent horrors (especially this set) have struck gold art-wise. Either way, this guy is efficient as he's a cantriping 2/2 at a cost that's reasonable. Compare to Man-O'-War for a nice tempo-vs.-card advantage comparison.

They're both good, but tempo/control is obviously a tiny bit more attractive :D (oddly enough, it's the blue card that is tempo and the black card that is card advantage)

Does anyone else note how appropriate the flavor text is for a reprint?
