'Living Weapon' is a great Idea with huge potential.
Yet they print this crap and thus put the whole 'Living Weapon' Cards into the trash bin.

You can make Living Weapon work better if you only try to make colorless mana. However, you can't do that in standard....

Living Weapon is a bit like Modular. so i guess they were afraid of doing mirrodin again. most of the weapons have overpriced equip cost, yes. but not much too high mana cost imo.

dose the germ survive long enough to get the equipment attached to it or do you have to use something like Leyline of Vitality for Living weapon to work.

Everyone used flying creatures in the prerelease. Two of these helped me get to third place, expandable chumps that don't care about Infect or anything really.
Other then that I agree: rather lack luster card.

Needs a seriously lower equip cost. I'm ok with a 5 casting cost but, seriously? A 4 equip cost?

While this card as such may not be great, people are overlooking the fact that this is basically a colorless Giant Spider for 1 more CMC. And if it dies, you still have an artifact card for say, Metalcraft purposes, or you can transform any 1/1 creature that you happen to draw mid- to late-game into a sizeable creature, if you happen to have 4 mana available and nothing else to cast.

As previously said, this card isn't great, but it isn't strictly bad either. I'd say it's a decent limited card due to it's flexibility.

I can only assume that the people hating on this haven't gotten a chance to play it. On the surface, this and other living weapons appear over-costed, but in play these things can be lifesavers and game changers, especially in a stalemate.

This was insane in limited, but a second look proves it sucks.

How greedy can you guys possibly be? You get a playable card, and all you say is that 4 mana to equip is too much.

Ok, so it isn't a Sword of Body and Mind, but that's a mythic rare, while this is merely an uncommon.

It's also not playable in constructed, but then again, so is 80% of the other cards in this set. You have to remember when evaluating cards that most of the commons and uncommons aren't intended for constructed play, and are geared for limited. (Draft or sealed) In that respect, if this creature costed less to play or equip, it would have resulted in a raise in rarity, because it would become too good for uncommon.

Giant spider is a quite playable creature in limited. And a colorless creature for one more isn't that bad. Add in a 4 costing equip that makes your creature more powerful and much, much harder to kill makes for a pretty good card.

I'm fond of this guy. He's not the strongest Living Weapon (that'd be Bonehoard, of course) but in Limited, 2/4 reach is a reasonable, if not good, creature. The fact that you can then go throw that on another creature is what makes it decent. Adding 4 toughness to almost any creature makes them pretty untouchable in Limited in this block.

I think people's main beef with it is that for 5 it's a Giant Spider that costs 1 more,
And after that it gives you the spider's stats for the same CMC as the actual spider.
Where the reusability is fair,
I'm convinced that this card could have gotten an equip cost of 3 and would have been very nicely balanced and worth a slot in many casual environments.
However, as it is, it's only touching "playable", where many players, even casual, want a card that is snuggly in that category.

Really good with a Brass Squire.

I think the reason so many of these guy's equip costs are so high is because they're almost playable creatures even if they weren't equipment as well.

I mean, completely by itself, it's a colorless Giant Spider at the cost of 1 more mana. That's good.

The fact that it's still a live card after the underlying creature is destroyed is just gravy.

I love all the living weapons to pieces, I'll happily play their inflated costs for such value.
Spiderquipment ftw - provides much needed air defense in any color

4: Target creature becomes Doctor Octopus.
5/5 for awesome flavor.

Intangible Virtue. Vigilance and reach go well together, plus the little Germ wouldn't dissipate if you chose to equip this on someone else.
