OK, this one's really silly. There are a LOT of better ways to direct damage for red. At three mana, this card is junk. Goblin Raider is better than this.

Now I'm not going to jump up and defend this crappy card, but I wouldn't say Goblin Raideris better...

ButIronclaw Orcs is :D

You're both wrong.
I don't know if you noticed yet, but this card's ability is actually better than first strike when attacking.
Don't get fooled just because it doesn't deal any combat damage, who cares if it is able to deal that amount of damage in the declare blockers step already to any creature desired?

sort of the opposite of Dwarven Vigilantes, sort of...

Faster-than-first-strike is always nice when attacking.

Very useful for teaching the ordering of stacking abilities with Kitsune Blademaster. This card will never win. ._.

Not only that, you can deal damage to some annoying creature that isn't blocking, or to another creature blocking another one of your attacking creatures. This is a great card.

Go-go slapping a Stuffy Doll so they take the damage either way.

One of the best weenie- and wizard-removal creatures!

are you guys kidding me. this card is awesome! first-est strike and reasonable mana cost. Treima and SirDoom, you're retarded. Name one other 2/2 that gives you more first strike and is {2}{R} or less (and {R}{R} doesn't count because that takes away its splash-ability).

Laccoliths are big fans of Quietus Spikes.

Someone blocks with only one guy? You kill it. If they don't they eat a TON of life. If you combine this tactic with Brass Squire and multiple Laccoliths you can quickly cause an impossible puzzle for your opponent:
-You let the equipped Laccolith's ability kill something, then you respond to another's by attaching the equipment and letting it have deathtouch.
-You can also simply move the equipment if they left one unblocked and they'll eat a ton of lifeloss.

So if you have 2 lac's and a squire + spike, you cause your opponent to lose 1-2 creatures per turn or each 3-6 + half of his remaining life each turn (meaning that it'll take 2-3 turns to kill him at any life total below ~40. (Say 4 damage, then they drop from 40->36->18, 18->14->7)

Basically, mix equipments with these guys that tell your opponent to block them but in such a way that you can really exploit that blocking. Notice that you could also use bounces or flicker to save these guys after they do their damage, creating other unwinnable scenarios for your opponent.

Even grafted wargear says "It takes 2 4/4s to kill me and I can kill your titan in response"
