I like this card, the art is cool and you get a sign in blood with a 4/4 creature.

As mentioned, a sign in blood with a 4/4 creature. On it's own. Black isn't famed for having the greatest strength for mana cost creatures either, so on it's own this is actually pretty good. And a sign in blood is also pretty good. What makes this awesome is the many ways you can juggle a creature around, thus activating this guys effect multiple times. Soul Stair Expedition, Cauldron of Haze, and Shade's Form. Of course there's also much more.

Congratulations! Your Phyrexian Rager has evolved into Phyrexian Gargantua!
Uhm... Phyrexians have nightmares? Their whole damn civilization is a nightmare!

Sign in Blood lets you target somebody else, so not exactly, as has been said, a Sign in Blood on legs. Still pretty good though.

I have a special place in my heart for effects like these, from Phyrexian Arena, and now to Bloodgift Demon and everything in between. This fella isn't going to make a constructed deck any more, but he's pretty nice in limited and can be used in your cube draft :)

It's two Phyrexian Ragers for literally the cost of two Phyrexian Ragers.
One of the few times I think this is totally acceptable. 6 is pretty fair for the amount of advantage you get from this thing. The life cost is irrelevant: Phyrexia has no use for petty life. They are eternal.

You know, I've always liked that word... "gargantuan"... so rarely have an opportunity to use it in a sentence.
