In a dedicated elemental deck I can see this card being ridiculous.

anti fungus card.

Ouch. He's the Bane of all saporling decks... I'm surprised the rating isn't at least 4 stars...

If he's not dealt with quickly, he becomes a big pain. I like to play him immediately before using removal. ;)

He is. All too often I'm on the receiving end of a 20+ first striker. And adding a Whispersilk Cloak to him makes him even worse.
To be honest the only things I've found that can deal with him are those that can kill him outright without having to worry about his first strike. Which is why I love having Tangle Asp available to block him.
@Vishlord: Actually, tokens do count as hitting the graveyard before getting removed.

Scarland Thrinax and any of the three creatures that get bigger are best friends.

Works very well with Eldrazi Spawns and Hissing Iguanar.

@vampire_: fungus decks aren't that good outside of casual. 4 stars imply that he was good in standard or extended at one point. He wasn't.
@ vishlord: actually they do and then are removed immediatly. otherwise there would be no reason for Sek'kuar, Deathkeeper to say "non-token".

Tokens don't hit the graveyard so don't think it would be an issue for Saproling decks - my bad! - ok that learned me, thanks all, he's back in the Vishlord vogue

Great synergy with Eldrazi spawns. Greater synergy with Eldrazi Spawns and Grave Pact.

@ultratog That's completely untrue. 4 stars only implies he's been voted to an average of 4 stars regardless of people's reasons. Besides, there are plenty of 4-5 star cards that are only that way because of RIDICULOUS combos that are relevant only in casual, vintage, or legacy, or are just decent in and of themselves. This is a decent card, 4 star or not. Personally I agree with you in the sense this is 3.5-4.
For the same price War Elemental outstrips this quickly and even that's not considered super special.

@flavortext Are you sure that isn't Zendikar? (Valakut, Creeping Tar Pit)
For obvious reasons, this guy is a house in Commander.

I'm deciding to add this into my Evoke deck or not. I already have a huge amount of Every-Color-Generators out there, so Mana color cost is not a problem in the fact. The fact remains on how reliable this ability will be with an evoke cost.
Worst case scenario, he will be a 1/1 with First Strike for because I can't use my Evoke... Best case scenario, he will be enormous with first strike for because I CAN use my Evoke...
Nice scenario I can already see is him being a 4/2 with Haste and First strike for before considering other Evokes that might be involved with his ability.
What do you guys think? Worth shuffling out some cards to use this in an evoke deck?
