Sorry Giant ***roach, but insects are too strong in standard right now. Horror it is. Actually, I really dig this guy. I'd rather have Bog Tatters, though (If I must have a common 4/2, that is).

Anything bearing the type 'Horror' should be significantly more fearsome than this.
Disappointing.

Awesome art but the art is wasted on a bad card.

I agree. The art shreds, but the card isn't going to be doing any shredding.

A waste of a design slot.

I actually hate this art compared to some of the older horrors... I hope this isn't a new artistic direction for them...

Such beatuiful art, wasted on such a pathetic card. This is a crime against black players everywhere, shame on wizards, Why do you insist on making black vanilla creatures if you always make them pathetic? Keep the vanillas for the green and white mages, they seem to love it, but give me some ability with this. It's a horror from the nether, and all it can do is make a standard attack? Come on, this is obviously some sort of mistáke, reprint it as it was supposed to be, with some death touch or discard or life loss, ANYTHING!

Sironos appears to not know what limited is.

If we didn't have vanillas at common, anything with an ability would be less special.

Vanilla is my favourite flavour of icecream, so its not suprising that vanilla creatures are some of my favourite cards. They get such a bad cop from people, so I guess I have limited to thank for making them useful, because their simplicity is appealing to me. As for P/T, look at it this way: a vanilla 4/2 for 4 CMC in green is a pretty bad card (they can get a 4/3 with regenerate for the same CMC), however green doesn't have removal. White can get a 2/3 flyer with first strike, and it has sideboard removal against black, but that isn't the same thing. Aggressive black creatures are good in limited because you have removal to help clear any obstructions. Removal and burn are some of the most highly sought-after abilities in Magic, so its not surprising that these two colours would get lower toughness on average in order to be balanced overall.

Oh come on! You could've given this name and art to something cooler. Plus, Nether Horror leads us on that it's perhaps another homage to Nether Shadow.
Not cool Wizards.

Horror is not the creature type for a vanilla creature.
So much awesomeness, so little value...

wizards has quite the sense of humor to print this and then phyrexian obliterator for the same cmc right afterwards

The art looks just like everything else they've been churning out for the past 10 years.

Though I wish Vanillas more often competed with non-vanilla (such as Leatherback Baloth) I do think they help evoke the flavor of different colors the best. There's only so much damage or toughness you can put on a non-vanilla before it gets absurd, but you can always subtract and make a mediocre common that gets the message across.

I wish better cards more often represented the toughness/power ratios of the colors better. Red and Green seem to be the only ones that are consistent (because green *should* be equal on both ends and Red is almost always top heavy.)

They should've given it one more toughness. A 4/3 for 3Black wouldve been fine at common. Nice art and flavor though. Sad it won't often grace the battlefield.
