Strictly worse than fissure. Creatures can regenerate from this.

@VampireCat - Agreed, not to mention the sorcery/instant difference. For the same CMC, and both double cost. This would only be better if the opponent had a Dispel in hand and an untapped blue source.

Eh, never really liked this or Fissure. "Destroy target creature" isn't a red effect.
