You could always just use equipment and let the first ability protect it from pacifisms.

It says something about Legends that this card is impressive.

Vigilance in {G}{R}{B}? Interesting...a 6/5 for {3}{R}{G}{B} is pretty fantastic for the time this card was printed..

Errata actually changed its function. If it becomes an Artifact, it used to be able to be targeted by Enchant Artifact spells. Now it can't be enchanted by Auras that enchant artifacts.

@tcollins: Vigilance is green now. Not that it was true or they cared at the time they made Legends, though.

6/5 for 6 was already not bad; with protection and vigilance this was a beast! Consider that being black he was already protected from most of removal (only direct damage and Swords to Plowshares could target him); with also partial protection against auras he was a badass beater!

Vigilance isn't that green, even now; it's still primarily white, and Red/Black are definitely white's enemy colors.
Really cool guy, but I really feel like he needs just something, a little more extra...

But seriously folks, a 6/5 vigilant un-enchantable creature for is pretty awesome, especially back in the day when Shivan Dragons and Serra Angels were the kings and queens of the game.

Also, anyone else notice that the color order is reversed, as instead of ? Oh Legends, you silly thing, you!

The flavor text is almost a haiku. If only the last line was worded "the charge of Bartel."
