Paying 5 for one card draw, doesn't seem to be worth it. Of course, there could be a place where this could be helpful, it just seems steep.

Blue gets to pay 2UU (Treasure Trove) and it's better at drawing cards. It would only be logical for it to be more expensive for white. Besides it's a great card for if you want your opponent to gain life. Not often helpful but sometimes.

Of course blue is more used in drawing cards, but compare this one to artifact alternatives. Even the oldschool Jayemdae Tome only requires four mana (although you have to tap it, but regarding this enchantment, paying ten mana for two cards will only happen extremely rarely anyways) Paying five mana AND giving your opponent three life sounds rather ridiculous.
Just look at the card. A single extra card requires you to pay {{8WWWWW}} and give your opponent 6 life. That's seriously not worth the card advantage, is it?
Only a few decks can work with opponent lifegain. Those that can't shouldn't use this.

I have a Barren Glory combo deck for multiplayer that bribes everyone with life until I can get the cards to win. It's a funny/stupid deck and this card is great for it, but obviously you wouldn't be running it in a serious deck.

So many terrible rares in MM. If the colorless mana were cut from its activated ability it'd be pretty nice, but this card is basically unplayable.

5 mana is rather expensive and giving your opponent 3 life makes it worse, use Pursuit of Knowledge if you really want to draw cards from white enchantments

Not bad with Rain Of Gore. Especially if you're the kind of person who would make that kind of nutty deck in the first place. Probably not going to win any tourneys with that one.
