Very flavourful damage card, serves as a red Wrath almost...

A very useful mass-destruction red spell, that since the beginning gives to red a definitive toll. What makes Earthquake somehow better than Wrath of God like spells is that you can build your deck with this in mind (full of flying creatures, for example), and you can cast it deciding its X value according to the battlefield situation...

A solid card - effective in clearing much of the board, and it hits players, too. Perhaps the most elegant of all red "Wrath-like" effects.

You can view this as mass removal that hits players too, or as symmetrical damage that hits most creatures as well. Of course, Lightning Bolt and its ilk make sure that the damage probably won't be symmetrical, making this oftentimes Fireball/Disintegrate #9-12.

The bane of land-based weenie decks everywhere.
