I don't like leveling; It costs way to much mana compared to what you get and your leveler is probalbly dead before he's finished his training. The abilities of this one are nice, though.

Expecting to max out a level is just dumb.
You're not going to regardless, that's not the point of a level up creature.
They're decent enough vanilla dorks that give you options.

Venerated-oh FORGET IT. I think you all understand where I'm going with this by now. >:V

He's really good. Just use him and see for yourself.

(He's UNCOMMON, too!)

With Training Grounds, you can level him to Level 5, Turn 5, with no mana-ramp. That said, it'd be nice to use a little ramp via Everflowing Chalice or some other means to get him out quicker. His ability is awesome though. These levelers aren't meant to just be thrown in a deck to win games with (I'm looking at you, Allies)

Things that make a good levelers deck:
Training Grounds, Venerated Teacher, Drake Umbras, and/or other Umbras, Mana Accel, Emerge Unscathed.

What will be neat about these cards is that you can make whatever color leveler deck you want, which makes for good variety and good magic.

Should have had an equal power / toughness rating. Otherwise it makes no sense to me, that he increases power AND toughness by the same amount.

Say what you want about it dying to removal. You thing it doesn't die to is Lightning Bolt.

This just costs way too much to get online. It can be split up from turn to turn, of course, but it's going to take you multiple turns to get such an effect, and it's just not worth it.

Pretty much requires Training Grounds to be good.

That said, holy crap is this thing awesome if you can level it. {3}{W}{W}{W}{W}{W}{W} for a 4/8 which gives everything else +2/+2? I'd use it,

He's riding a Felidar Sovereign. What a boss.

Not bad. He starts out beyond the range of Lightning Bolt, which is huge by itself and the built-in Honor of the Pure is solid too. Still a little pricey for what he does, but decent.

Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

I actually use this guy in an Elesh Norn EDH deck. Quite nice in a leisurely format like EDH. "Dies to removal" is getting so overplayed lately, and this guy most likely isn't the biggest threat on the board anyway. Mass wipe obviously will hit him, but targeted removal will most likely find something juicier to take out, especially if you haven't pumped this guy all the way up.

Okay on his own, astounding with friends. If only he wasn't a knight, he'd go perfectly in every soldier deck...

@coyotemoon

As much as that is a sweet idea, you'd need mana fixing. You'd need five W to fully level him, and would have already had to have played training grounds- which requires a U. You'd either need a land that could produce both white or blue, or use a creature/artifact/enchantment.

That being said, a decent creature. In human white weenie decks, it shines bright- still a decent creature, and valuable mana sink. Also stellar in token decks. Otherwise, probably not worth it unless you use heartstones or venerated teachers or training grounds.
