Ummm, because its good in monochrome casual play decks?
I wish people would take into account a cards value in non-cutthroat competition.

Glad to see at least one other person has some common sense, sir_dwar.
2 mana. TWO. You're not out that much if it gets destroyed. Free life gain. FREE. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

This is a very effective spell, particularly in multiplayer magic. On its own, not too shabby, a few points of life can make the game.

It's not even good in casual. It might buy you half a turn at most. One life per spell isn't enough to offset any player who has played more than two games.
Also, to Wizards: These cards along with Rod of Ruin are taking up six artifact slots in the core set that could be occupied instead by cards that are actually useful. Please don't print them in M11.
... not that they'll read/take notice of that, but it's worth a try.

No one is going to bother to destroy this. The life it gives usually adds up to a respectable amount in a white deck. Cheap and/or repeatable white spells make it go faster. Most of the time white has better choices for deck slots, but this is by no means a bad card. It works well in my deck that has Painter's Servant and bouncable white cards.

People underestimate the power these have in draft, this and surprisingly Soul Bleed pretty much won me a match.

These are essential basic cards for the core set. Helpful, cheap, and great for new decks. I run two in my white tweenie deck . When things go well I gain 6 life a turn.

Free life the rest of the game (unless they spent their artifact removal on this, which is in your favour) every time you cast a white spell for only 2 mana= nice.

i think this is not so bad because white is usually a life-gain and defense color

This card along with the five others could make a great healing effect...
Not to mention you could gain life no matter what...

Would anyone want to play this over, say, Rest for the Weary? It seems that everyone on this site is either expecting every card to be an auto-4-of in every tournament or is saying that this card is decent. It isn't. Draw it early, and you'll wish you had something that actually helps you win. Draw it late, wish you had taken it out of your deck and burned it.
