It has reasonable, if a bit weak stats for 4cc, then you throw in a 4 damage creature-nuke and it all looks better.

Beast! I'd like to think of it as a red version of the infamous Faceless Butcher. Usually a two creature swing.

I can't believe they didn't eratta this guy and nerf him to be like stalking yeti. Why tf would they do that to stalking yeti anyways? (the "if it's in play" clause)

knock out an opponent's meaty creature before a devastating assault. Flametongue's poor toughness can be disregarded (and moreover it's power put to good use) with the addition of an enchant creature like Treetop Bracers

Apparently, the Kavu was originally designed as a 4cc 3/2 that hit something for 3 when it came into play. Good to see it ended up more... um, balanced.

Playing against this has lost me a few games. Sometimes, my opponents will use it on my Jace... just after he came into play, and I used his -1...

@land_comment.

This can't hit Jace, only creatures.

One of the better red creatures out there. Burn something and get four power on the field. Whats not to love?

Still one of the best red cards ever. Color light, card advantage, top-heavy (relevant for ending the game), synergizes with itself as it opens the way to their life total.

@badmofo - that ruling is on Stalking Yeti because you can use his other ability to bounce him back to your hand in response to the ETB trigger. I guess they were afraid of people abusing it? That being said, if you have something like Vedalken Orrery and LOTS of mana, you could stack the ETB ability enough to wipe out a few 1/1s before deciding whether it was time to bounce him or not...

This guy, on the other hand, only gets 1 shot of damage... unless you play something blue (like Equilibrium, let's say :P) to keep bouncing him back to your hand... and now I HAVE to make that deck!
