P i sses people off when they get duress at first turn, then this, then a nice hypnotic specter then abyssal specter, with thoughtseize, etc. can be so mean :-)

This is up there with Mind Twist for utterly brutal discard. I once got two boxes of fallen empires for twenty bucks off a classmate, and I'm still a bit baffled by the fact that almost every playable card in the set is at common: I own at least four playsets of this and Goblin Grenade, and pulled just one copy each of (rare) chaff like Goblin Flotilla and River Merfolk. If it had been the reverse, I would have been so much less pleased with my purchase.

A friend was playing my vintage black deck which has four of these bad boys in it. I played my mono-black vampire deck. Here's how the first two turns went:
Opponent T1: Swamp Me T1: Swamp, tap, Vampire Lacerator Opponent T2: Swamp, tap, Hymn. He picks... two Bloodghasts Me T2: Swamp, two Bloodghasts, tap, some Vampire (I can't remember because I was still laughing)
The rest of the game was unmemorable. Good times.
Moral of the story: Even 5-star cards have a bad day. Oh, and huzzah for Quinton Hoover.
