I donno about that ESUpin, I think it's very well costed, both to play and to activate. Being able to keep your opponent from drawing anything but say, lands, or whatever was the least dangerous to yourself for 3 mana a turn isn't a bad deal IMO.

For three mana per turn, you can put your opponent in a permanent state of deep freeze. Until they deal with this enchantment, they will probably never again get a card that they want. As a bonus, if you find yourself with even more extra mana (or if you know that your opponent is still in line to get a card you don't care about), you can use the ability on yourself. I love this card.

If you can get this going, it can be pretty devastating. There was an old Type 1 deck named, "Keeper", which used this card to keep a person locked down (among other things). At any rate, this card is just begging to be paired with Counterbalance.

For mid-90s pre-teens playing kitchen table Magic, I bothered my brother something fierce playing this turn after turn.
However I lost to Shyft six times out of ten remains a mystery to me now.

This card is deadly because you can use it on any player including yourself. I notice some people think (3) is too expensive, but they are not using it properly in my opinion. In a deck with counter spells, you want to have mana freed up during your opponents turn anyway, if he doesn't play anything in fear for a counter, use the Elemental Augury during his end step. Choose the card you want him to draw, and now you know what he's going to be drawing for several turns. This card can help you control the game, big-time! You don't need to use it all the time obviously. I find this card excellent for EDH games. I give it a 4.5/5

And this is what people used, until HE came along. You know who I'm talking about, the guy with the cloak and the price tag the size of the card.

Seems pretty good for a Grixis Commander deck. Keeps your opponent from drawing dangerous spells, and keeps the good spells flowing to you. 3 mana might seem like much, but it shouldn't be a problem in the Commander format

Surprised this card is not rated at least a 4. Yeah it's a bit slow, and it's cost is heavy and color intensive, but this can make every draw of your opponents a dead draw, all the while help you get to the cards you need to win. Seems solid to me, if not a little hard to use right.

@NARFNra That's great and all but I seem to be missing how you know what card to name with booby trap, considering, you know, how you never have mana to activate augury in this scenario.

I wish they'd reprint this, I bet the art would look amazing in foil!
