Not sure why this is a rare. Decent effect, but I'd have taken it sans first- strike at uncommon.

It's rare because it's an extremely powerful card, and mostly for constructed play. Notice that it says "Plains card", it doesn't have to be a basic Plains. He also doesn't tell you to put it onto the battlefield tapped, and you can still play another land the same turn. This guy on turn three can completely eliminate the disadvantage of playing second. First strike makes him a fine play even when you don't get the land search.

Always draw first with this card in your deck...otherwise, it's mostly worthless. Still 2/2 FS for WW is good without the ability.

this is a rare because its simple yet powerful, its not flashy like other rares, its one of those things you want 4 of in your deck like birds of paradise or time warp (though admittedly its not as good as those 2

this is a nice card, WW for a 2/2 FS, no one, except your opponent, will complain about that, the fetch is just gravey, unless you run emeria, sky ruin, in which case, the 2/2 FS is part of the gravey, where as the fetch is the part you are playing this for, it is a white fetch, as long as you are a land down compared to our opponent, turn 3 on the draw and it is 4 lands

A very, very nice card for monowhite, especially if you're playing control and using Emeria. One of the only white mana accelerants really helps, and it combos very well with Path to Exile - which should be a 4 of in a white control deck. The 2 damage can niggle at the opponent, and if you end up activating Emeria, he can be brought out of the GY again for potentially more land and deck thinning. Very, very likable.

somewhat fluffy art - not really my taste, but amazing nonetheless.

Rarity =/= Power. This is rare because all "get a ton of advantage if an opponent controls more lands than you" cards are rare, except for 9th Edition Gift of Estates.

Borderpost FTW =)
and this is an AMAZING rare!
Turn 1: Borderpost Turn 2: Plains, this and an elite vangaurd or something would be insane in a white weenie deck.
Also great for W/anything control.

It suuuuucks when your opponent has a bunch of these against your landfall deck.

This can't get Emeria, the Sky Ruin. It says find a Plains card - Emeria is just a land.

Because it's a Leotau. Bant's native creatures included lion-like animals called Leotau which act as steeds.
