This is some snazzy removal that almost always results in card advantage. play this card. anything that says "Choose one -" is at least playable.

I'm having a little trouble with this card...its only advantage over Lightning Bolt is that it can hit two creatures at once, if your opponent has both fliers and non-fliers. It costs three times as much as Lightning Bolt, though...so why should I run this instead of it?

@Clefaria:
You don't run Branching Bolt instead of Lightning Bolt. You run it in addition to it, or sideboard it.

Branching Bolt can result in cheap 2 for 1's against decks that play a mixture of fliers and non-fliers. If they have all of one or the other, Lightning Bolt is strictly better.

So, you're saying. . . I can hit both Bloodghast AND Vampire Nighthawk? AT THE SAME TIME!? OMG.

Good in its limited environment. But still a table top option to get a 2 for 1. Table Top sideboards are the entire collection. I couldn't see someone dedicating 3-4 sideboard slots just for those narrow decks that run weenie aggro that has a healthy number of both flying and non flying.
