This and the other panoramas are all really great cheap mana fixing. if you are on a budget, these cards are good.

I really, REALLY don't care for these. Compared to something like Terramorphic Expanse (also in this standard) its just plain bad, requiring two mana sources just to bring one it tapped? I can see its use in sealed, or block, but outside of that its just not good.

i agree.they are great.not only you get 1 mana but if you need mana fixing....well thats the card and it is better than terramorfic expanse because it gives you MANA

Teramorphic Expanse is better because it does not require you use mana to fetch a land.

With Zendikar's introduction of the landfall range of abilities, the ratings of these cards will hopefully go up. Zendikar has some similar lands which are actually rare (they can't provide mana themselves, but you tap them and pay 1 life, and then may put one of two types of land into play untapped), and so they both have different drawbacks - either paying a mana, or paying a life.
Keep in mind that as this is an activated ability you can also use it during your opponent's turn. If you're saving one mana (just off the top of my head, perhaps you have saved one forest in order to potentially activate Giant Growth) and don't end up needing it, and you are actually in need of a colored mana instead of a colorless, you can activate this ability during your opponent's second main phase and put the card into play then. It's really handy if you have a landfall effect which would be handy during the next turn (provided it doesn't end on this turn), or can be used with great effect during the opponent's turn if a blocker has a landfall ability that will beef it up (for example, a lot of cards have landfall effects which provide +x/+x until end of turn).

I like these cards because you can save them until you need them, while terramorphic expanse does nothing until you sac it.

@Dragoonmike
Teramorphic Expanse is not always better, this can produce colourless mana as soon as you play it, wheras teramorphic Expanse means you'll ALWAYS have to wait a turn for mana from the land it searched.

This is nice... I play Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse, but I can imagine playing this. Sometimes, it's ability to provide colorless mana immediately can fix your tempo, while expanses and wilds provide just fix your mana. Not bad, not overpowered... 3/5

While they can match tempo OR mana-fix they damage your tempo even more if you need the color/land type. If you're playing these you're not likely in a tightly locked tempo-race kind of environment. Using Terramorphic and Evolving in my decks has rarely proved an issue as I can often either do it T1 (acting like a T1 play) or do it when I have a 2-drop as my third land, or some such. This guy requires you eat mana. I could see it's use in occasional decks, but most of the time I'd suggest something else. Lairs tend to be better, as due ravnica bouncelands (providing something almost as good as card advantage for the same tempo loss.) and they're all cheap cheap cheap.
If you have money then I'd suggest looking *almost* anywhere else.
Come into play untapped and we'll talk..

Terramorphic/Evolving, Misty Rainforest etc, Temple Garden etc, Seaside Citadel etc, heck even Rampant Growth or Harrow are all superior options, because you're not spending mana this turn just to break even next turn. if the land you fetched came in untapped this would be decent
