I'm shocked at the low ratings. This is a great card in Mono Black Aggro. The deck has very little use for mana in the later game. This card becomes a great mana sink. This version's art is the best, IMO. Beautiful.

There's really nothing more to say. No intricate explanation for WHY he's good, he just is, and it should be obvious. 4/5 for a good, clean card.

I'm interested by the ratings here when you compare to Order of the White Shield. Pro black is far more useful than pro white, and other than that they're quite similar. Black and White both have pretty similarly powered creatures at low costs, so the color isn't that big of a determinant, either. Hm...

Flavorfully does not insist that it is a human, as the Order of the Ebon hand employed all manners of races to represent them due to the unique traits each race possessed, one of the art pieces for this card even depicts an armored centaur soldier.
