When is anyone ever going to play this?

It seems a bit expensive. It would be a little better if it buried or exiled the creature, or even did wither damage.

Great art.

It probably costs five because it can kill black creatures, something black always has trouble with. If only it cost four, though... after all, for 1Black you get your standard kill spell (currently that would be Doom Blade), and for three you get a more potent kill (Hideous End or Dark Banishing... maybe even Sudden Death), but not too many things kill at 4.

It costs so darn much because of how good it is.
This is one of very, very, very few targeted black removals that can nail black creatures or artifact creatures.
Any card drawing is just gravy.

Ouch!

A little expensive, but it could fit nicely into discard-based decks against green and white.

It's a card fit for limited, not constructed.

It's offers color hosing, which was necessary for the extremely color oriented Shadowmoor and all it's other friend blocks. If there was so much boosts from color, there needed to be a hose.

It's common, so the outrageous cost of 5cmc is okay.

Flavourwise and in terms of playability, this should have been an instant.
