the origin of spiders and their common ability "reach", a very annoying card for years, especially in limited...

Classic creature. Part of every core set from Alpha on, and latest news from Wizards is that when Magic 2011 comes out, it will be one of the only two cards left that will have that distinction.

A very balanced card. Basic anti flyer defense and nice art!

The first time I've seen this card, I thought it was inspired by Giorgio de Chirico's paintings... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giorgio_de_Chirico

Now confirmed to be included in M12, while Giant Growth isn't making the cut this time.
...but he won't be in M13. You've been working hard, big guy. You deserve a break.

lol at shane.... every card can't be constructed worthy. You know there ARE other formats in magic, and yes, limited is one of them. How about giving respect to the original spider. With out this guy we wouldn't have reach, or other spiders, or enchantments like Web. This guy is reasonably costed, trades power for toughness, and give green a way to deal with something it has very little of itself: fliers. .5 stars.... you are too full of yourself/have a terrible rating scale.

The original "Reach" critter and with high Toughness he's custom made for blocking. Giant Growth lets him eat quite a few enemy attackers including the Serra Angel or Sengir Vampire. One of the defining monsters of the game.
