Almost as bad a first-turn-kill enabler as Black Lotus. It always felt like a black card wearing a green coat, although these days I guess it'd be red.

Black Lotus is a worse first-turn kill enabler, since most Channel-Fireball combos used the Lotus to cast the Channel...
This card is broken, this along with Balance, was absolutely shocking when it remained in 4th Edition. Channel was already banned by that point...

No, you guys have it all wrong. It leaves your forests untapped so you have more to sacrifice to Wood Elemental.
I'd like to see a black one that uses the same balancing of the Phyrexian mana. Something like "Until end of turn you may pay 2 life for any black or colorless mana symbol" but.. you know.. worded better.

I actually like the original art for Channel more than the FTV version. You can tell by the purple that the planeswalker in the art is channelling a lot of mana, and you can tell by how thin the planeswalker's arms are that he/she is growing frail in the process.
