why do people rate this so low? in either merfolk or faeries, this is a constant shut down of their big attacker.

Great defender. Let your islandwalkers pick apart your oponent while Merfolk Sharpshooter and Silgergill Douser defend. If you can swap a card's power and toughness, Silvergill Douser is also a great assassin. (Reduce power to zero, swap and the creature dies.).

must have been great in Lorwyn Draft, but other than that not the best.

Sir Fargojake, there is a Merfolk creature with such a caliber of switching creatures powers. It is called, sir, Merfolk Thaumaturgist. With one mana more you can start killing opposing creatures barring your way to victory.

I play this in my speed Faeries deck. Get everything out on the field, bullrush with a ton of 1/1 fliers, fill your spells with counters, if they ever do manage to get a big creature out, give them -11/-0 just by tapping for two. One of my favorite cards in the game.

Love this merfolk. you can have a slew of merfolk out and you only need to leave this ome little guy untapped to prevent some pretty hefty damage.

@rinoh20: Your comment made me laugh, because I run a fairie deck myself and I know how broken the good old Spellstutter Sprite is.
P.S.: A -2/11 Blighsteel Colossus would give you 2 anti poison counters. :P No, it wouldn't, I know, but it would be funny i guess.

Weird. If I'm reading this right, if you're playing with both faeries and merfolk, you get to choose one of three X values, i.e, either the number of faeries, the number of merfolk, or both combined. That... is interesting.
