Trying to figure out the timing for paying for this trigger. So by the time you pay, you already know whether you won the clash or not, right?

This seems like one of the most promising "clash triggers", but there's so few worthwhile clash cards to play with it that it seems to have turned out a dud. You want a whole lot of cards that clash, and there's only a few that are actually good.

@Dragon Bloodthirsty:
When the Clash goes on the stack, this ability triggers and goes on the stack on top of the Clash. You have to choose to pay {1} before you clash.

@Vinifera: No, absolutely not. It triggers on clash, so the clash has to go off first. Or you could pay this cost and stifle the clash. A triggered ability happening without a trigger? For seriously?

You clash, it triggers, then you may pay 1. I actually says this in the rules text on the card.

When an ability tells you to clash, you can pay 1. If you pay 1, you put the token into play. Then you reveal cards as the clash ability says. If you win, the token gets haste, so you won't know the result before you pay the 1.

I thought it read, "whenever you dash, you may pay one". The first thought that came into my mind was "ashnod's coupon has an upside"!!

Elemental Shamans? Elemental Rebels would have been funnier.
R&D doesn't go the funny route very often anymore.

How is there confusion on this card? (Realizing as I post this I am two years too late) This is an example of RTFC: It triggers after you clash. It says that on the card
