Those look like Hedrons crashing down on Zendikar, and it has kicker as well. Coincidence?

I think not! Triple-red might be a little too much.

This card has won me soooooo many games, it is an all-star MVP in my decks. Many a blue mage has tried to counter it but they all failed.

not useful freally unless you can muster 7 or 8 mana, feels like a waste then. i guess turn 5 w/o kicker is alright

I think it looks more like Mountain #3 from Planechase.

Actually, it looks to me like a burnt-up Fungal Reaches.

Why does this have to cost ? It is serviceable at ... It would be strictly better than Earthquake, but it's not as if that card is terribly broken

It looks like Mountain #3 from Planechase because that artwork was taken from the basic Mountains for the Time Spiral set. And Fungal Reaches looks like it does because, well, Fungal Reaches was designed to look like those mountains, as well.

Absolute powerhouse when you playing against counterspells, or people who like to use instants to save creatures, prevent damage etc

The extra red mana cost is a killer, but necessary to keep it balanced with Earthquake and Banefire (people can use Time Stop or Deflection)

@Designer_Genes: No. simillar to what lemming3 and syrazemyla is talking about, those are mountain designs for Timespiral in the plane of Dominaria. The card has a kicker mechanic because Timespiral block is a nostalgia block, remembering the most resonant and successful mechanics in the past.
