For when you want to steal something, but don't want to keep it. Granted, there need to be Control Magic style cards for people who can't afford to play good cards.

so now control effects have drawbacks in addition to costing one more than they use to. great.

well in a deck like mine this card excels imagine...I steal an opponents creature with maybe 3/3 right...well I have cards in my deck that allow me to move -1/-1 counters from card to card...well I can keep adding -1/-1 counters to that card each upkeep and then during my turn move them to an opponents card and what do you have a cycle....especially my scarecrow effects that allow me to tap and move counters each turn

Combinations with -1/-1 counter effects might work well with this card, but then all you are doing is wasting time to use a really mediocre combo that only benefits you in the slightest way. If your going to pay five mana to steal a creature, then play Persuasion; you keep the stolen creature and you can concentrate on killing the opponent rather then trying to move -1/-1 counters onto other creatures.

Biting tether + fate transfer, steal their creature then kill another one with it. Can use during combat as a surprise killer.

The drawback is less of a drawback given all the counter shenanigans in this block. Also, Control Magic effects are really mean and need to be costly.

I don't dislike this card at all. The danger of playing other creature control auras is that once the opponent gets rid of the card, they get their creature back. This gives you the creature for a whie but ensures that it gets weaker and weaker, and less interesting for your opponent to steal back.

The drawback's not too debilitating. I like this card, though I'll agree that stuff like Mind Control is better.

Great idea... but it has the same CMC as mind control... WHO'S IDEA WAS THAT
Steal and opponent's creature, make it attack him while choking the life out of it, I love this, feels even more evil than normal mind control. Reminds me of Jedi Academy, froce gripping an enemy, and smashing it into his comrades while choking him. Blue at its most black. Even if they remove the enchantment, they will get their creature back severely weakened.

People who claim this is worse than Mind Control lack creativity. Even just within block, we have the likes of Grim Poppet, who turns this paltry "drawback" into a machine gun of pain. In addition, the longer you control it, the less they'll want it back, which means you can safely use all of your counter shenanigans without too much fear of immediate repercussion.
