Killer art, flavor and ability, but not even the instant recursion can save it from being a 3/4 flyer for 6 mana.

It's just too expensive. Still waiting for a really good Phoenix to show up.

I could see it reprinted at uncommon... if it was a rare or mythic, it would need to either be cheaper or have better stats, or haste.

Compare to Shivan Dragon to see the difference between 5/5 with Firebreathing and a 3/4 with built-in Raise Dead. Perhaps now-a-days this should be a 4/4 for 5CMC and it's current abilities, but it is not a bad card as printed.

Do not underestimate the Phoenix's recursion ability, which is very rare in RED.
