For a slightly more specific mana cost than featured on Giant Spider, you get a much better version here. This took over the casual role of the solid reach creature for CMC 4 in green while the cla.ssic is completely relegated to limited play, where it is still a very viable early pick.

This is just one of those cards I always used to hate, because when I'd finally gotten rid of it, guess what? IT'S STILL THERE! Oh the agony! D: That said, now that I own it myself (and, mind you, have gotten a good bit better at deckbuilding) I can safely say that this is one of those cards that's just a powerhouse in limited, and very decent in a casual deck, but nothing more. 4/5 for nostalgia's sake. And because the mechanic is cool, flavorwise.
Love this card. My favourite nostalgia card from time spiral in fact.
You have to understand what this card did to limited. It was nuts.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references both Giant Spider and the Penumbra creatures from Apocalypse.

I'm tempted of putting this card in my unpowered cube, but I'm legitimately afraid of it being too powerful. It's two Giant Spiders for a small change in the mana cost! That's seriously insane! Not quite constructed playable, but I'm surprised that it isn't at least considered more.
