It always was a nice, easy finishing move.

Surprised to see this card rated below 3! I've always found this card to be a quick finishing move, particularly when combined with a flyer and/or unblockable.

Edit - Threw it in a deck for the first time in a long time a few nights ago... it was the winning card... again. Seriously, this thing is an awesome finisher who many players never see coming.

We should keep in mind that black has better mana accel than red anyway. What with dredge and Crypt of Agadeem and similar, dark ritual, sacrificial thrulls

Howl from Beyond, the predecessor of Enrage, has never been a very popular finisher. While it has a lot of potential, it can be thwarted in many ways. In addition to being countered, the creature it targets can be blocked, destroyed, or nullified with something like Fog. For this reason, players generally would rather play a spell like Drain Life to finish their opponent. But enough with the negatives - Howl from Beyond, much like Giant Growth, is fun to play. It seems to play a bit better in multi-player, and I often like to use it on my opponent's creatures when they are attacking someone else.
