Very versatile, can fetch any instant or card with flash you need. The flashback is what makes this card really good. It gives you an extra spell which can be used to chain Teachings together for maximum card advantage or get another answer.

very cool that this is a common card also, besides that I agree with asca.

Most fun card ever. Who doesn't love instant speed toolboxes with card advantage built in?

If I have nightscape familiar out and I flash this back, does it cost 5B or 4B?

it costs 4B as it is infact a blue spell, you are just paying an alternate mana cost yet still casting it so your familiars' ability does infact take effect.

Pretty good tutor effect that has seen play in multiple formats without being broken. Nice.

Pact of Negation would be a neat trick with this.

Instant tutor with flashback? I believe this alone would have enabled the whole deck back when this was in Standard. Even if Teferi hadn't existed, you could still literally drown them with the card advantage this generates.

This one card fetches you 2 Careful Considerations minimum, all alone and at instant speed. What more could you ask of a control card? Counter something and tapping their team at the same time, with two more possible good options?

The perfect card? Amazing.
Wafo-Tapa's work with it is genius:

I think I will search for Snapcaster Mage.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.

This card references the card Mystical Tutor. It was part of a powerful control deck of the day when in combination with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, a card which made all creatures in your deck legal targets for Mystical Teachings.

Instant speed blue tutor at 4 mana. And it has flashback, what a card.

Very powerful way for UB control decks to stabilize in the mid game and close out the late game. When you have this card in hand after you've stabilized, the feeling towards your opponent is "It doesn't matter what you topdeck. I have an answer for it."

The flashback on the card makes it awkward to counter because they are generally countering half of a card, yet often the opponent doesn't have a choice but to counter it given it's power.

Also worth noting is that if you resolve this card during your own turn and get a split second spell (Krosan Grip for example), your opponent will not have a chance to respond between the resolution of the spell and your casting the split second spell (to destroy an Umezawa's Jitte with counters on it, for example).

It's a tutor that generates card advantage. That's awesome if you ask me.
