Why was this not an Artifact Creature?

Once upon a time, Ebony Horse offered a unique ability that made for some interesting combat tricks. In Onslaught, the ability was explored more fully and at a much reduced cost with the Gustcloak creatures (Gustcloak Harrier, etc.) Ebony Horse, however, lets you wait until after blockers are declared to make your choice as to which creature you'd like to remove from combat. This effectively neutralizes your opponent's best blocker.

Maze of Ith is cheaper(and way better) and all you have to do is play it.

Why is this an Artifact, not a Creature?

It's just a little painful if you put it next to Reconnaissance.

Nice rare with a common ability, id say you'd get screwed if you traded jank for this. but its portal three kingdoms so its 20$ ( worth the same as primeval titan)
