Could work in a madness deck. Still way overpriced, though.

It ends up costing you 7 mana and discarding a card just to deal 1 damage? No thanks.

It would appear they are gun-shy with Necropotence-style enchantments... I wonder why.

no this still sucks in madness, because your paying three to discard, when you can do it for free way easier. haha i tried this in my black madness deck

I guess if the abilities didnt cost as much mana, we'd have one hell of a good card.

@bijart_dauth: I concur. As it is though, I can't imagine someone ever using this efficiently, and personally I find this card much less interesting than other comparatively crappy cards such as Sea Troll.

Sure, the first ability is utter crap. While it may be used to cycle worthless cards (creature removal vs creatureless deck) for a small amount of life drain, three mana and a card simply isn't worth it.
However, the second ability is pretty decent and definitely upps this card's playability. You can activate it any number of times (as far as your life and mana permits) in response to each other to fill out your hand and essentially giving you a less color-restricted Greed when hellbent.

The first ability is a bit overpiced but still worth something in the right deck. The ability to discard a card in a Reanimation deck is very useful in addition to its lesser life drain mechanic.

The second abilty is it's redeeming quality obviously.

Can you not just use the bottom ability and activate it in response to its self? In other works activating it with hellbent to draw a card, than responding twice due to the stack you still have not drawn yet so hellbent is still active paying BBB and 6 life for 3 cards. Thus making it a possible draw engine that costs a lot of life, but black can work around the life loss...

That and really its top ability is really just a way to pitch the stuff you can't cast to get hellbent faster, that's the way I see it at least...
