An interesting card, this was the original candidate for the sixth basic land...

I'm really surprised this land never made it into the basic sets.

An old favorite that remains the closest thing we've seen to a sixth basic land after all these years. For its time this is a really pretty piece of card design, and sometimes forced some interesting decisions by the attacking player. Particularly when you had more than one of them, figuring out whether your creatures would survive attacking could be a tricky business.
Seems to me they go back and forth rather a lot on whether the second ability has a timing restriction, or creates a delayed triggered ability. I vaguely prefer the latter, though the former (and current) interpretation is slightly simpler.

I'm surprised that they've never played more with colorless mana... Print cards with colorless mana costs that can only be paid with colorless mana, then print a colorless basic land to go with them.
Then again, with the colorless ramp that is available to artifacts nowadays, they'd have to make those colorless cards even weaker than colored cards, so there wouldn't be much of a point to them. Missed opportunity, probably.
But at least we have Snow land!

Deserves to be reprinted now and then - it's interesting!

I never quite got how this would be a basic land. Were they planning something like snow lands or maybe a sixth color? Would it be as printed but you could have any number of them in a deck? Was the 4-of limit even in place back then?

Back in the day, this went in my deck. Which deck? Every deck.

This card helped me win a Stormbound Geist from a friend who bet me that I couldn't beat him if we switched decks. I LOVE this card hahaha
