would have been fair with -1/-0 and double strike instead

Gruul struck me as slightly under-powered at the lower rarities. It had some super rare and uncommons... It's too bad. I always liked midrange red/green

This card's mana cost is too high for a 2/1 with first strike, especially for red, which emphasizes speed. It does not fit well with red's quickness and momentum, and its rather expensive activated ability could make players have to choose between activating it and casting another card. With a combined total of 8 mana to cast this card and use its activated ability, there are PLENTY of better cards and card combinations for that cost.

It looks to be a hood (a la a real life cobra) more than an ear.
Still, nice observation, Selez.

I remember when I thought this was great. Now I realize it's mediocre. At best. If it had doublestrike and the ability was cheaper and could be activated multiple times, it would be good. But this... this is for those new players who only play other new players.

Come on Wizards, would this have been too broken if you could activate its effect multiple times?
