this is a great card, it can shrinken your deck and also add to your life total

Gives your Mill deck more staying power, the mana cost and life gain are meant for late game play. For example: 6 lands for 4 mill and 4 life. Bringing the opponent closer to death and you closer to life. But too expensive for a 5 star rating.

A combo card more than a mill card. In a straight mill deck, you'll have better options. In a combo deck making infinite mana, this can be the wincon.

I like the design of this card, in that it's a Drain Life that hits your library. Seems like a one shot mill effect has to do more than this to be worth playing, though. Maybe if it milled for two times X, but even then, how much mana are you going to have to spend to make this better than Traumatize?

If you're focused on pure milling, there are much better alternatives... on the other hand, the lifegain can be benefiting in some situations. Lifegain is not so sucky as all think, it can easily buy you some time to win a game... This is late game card, and it have it's use...

Dimir cards gave me the basis for my mill deck that I still play today. This is wonderful... it's rare to have blue have lifegain. (Or is it?)
traumatize is only good the first or second time the third time its like cards if your milling right. so a pay x mill card is good game ender

The life gain is what makes this nice. It's not the greatest card out there for mill decks, but it helps ensure that your opponents run out of cards before you run out of life.

I feel like this should be a 3 CMC artifact, not a sorcery. If it was an artifact it would still be balanced, as it would not be nearly as good as other milling artifacts, yet would give you the benefit of gaining life.

it's quite important to gain time in mill decks, so this can be very nice. too bad its not a lot of life for the price, and not a lot of mill too. could have been something like "mill 4 gain 4 life" for or 5 for .
