The token creation of this card is slow compare to other options. The buffing ability, however, can be devastating, because in a token deck you will have enough tokens that even +1/+1 is enough to add dozens of damage to your horde. i.e., no need to activate more than once, but more the merrier of course. Instant abilities reduce the cost issue somewhat.

I find the artwork amazing. Realy captures the vigilance and nobility of the G/W colors combined. Also his abilitys are very flavorfull and can combo well with eachother. Defitaly my favorite guildmage just for that, second being Orzhov Guildmage for the artwork and flavor also.

The ability to produce tokens at instant speed makes this an interesting alternative to Sprout Swarm and effects like it. The fact that this ability can be used when the creature is tapped makes it decent, and the second ability can come in handy when there is mana to spare.
This is also a great example of synergy between two abilities, without it being a combo.
