When utilized to its full potential this card can be immensely powerful. Its severly limited to being played in a blue/white deck, but it more then compensates for its amazing ability. Attacking with a 4/4 vigilance creature is ok, attacking with a 7/7 vigilance that gains 7 life when blocked or blocking is incredible. As long as the owner of Kiyomaro has sufficient card draw and counterspell ready, then the winner of the game becomes really obvious.

Probably my favorite of this cycle of legends form Saviors, this guy is a serious double-hit with vigilance and some good life gain.

Am I the only one to notice the "MaRo" in "Kiyomaro"? :)

You guys realize his last ability can be done outside of combat also? Any enchantment or equipment allow it to pin creature/player gives 7 life, repeatable :)

@ Kageyaiba: This is part of the Kamigawa 'Maro' cycle - all five have 'maro' somewhere in their names.

Interesting cards get ousted by the likes of cards like BaneSlayer Angel.

By a most wonderful of coincidences, this guy's name both refers to the original and recurring Maro mechanic and is a proper Ja panese name.
Maro is a recurring suffix for boys names, meaning something along the lines of 'me' or 'I'.
Transliterated; Kagemaro means approximately "Great One of Purity".

@desolation_masticore Baneslayer is extremely strong, but I wouldn't call it entirely uninteresting. I mean, at first appearance, its easy to hate, but its got some interesting things going on. The art is phenomenal, that is the first thing I noticed. Then, I started to count the number of times the number 5 were showing up on the card (I think it was a gatherer comment that got me to do that) and I was like LOL its the avatar of 5. Anyways, Kiyomaro doesn't have flying or first strike, but he has Vigilance and is bigger than baneslayer (in the wrong deck he won't be.) He's actually not worse.

Just saying, late game casual with Livewire Lash can be pretty hilarious.
