Great card, hard to get rid of, just remember: Don't ask him why he fights. One of my favorite pieces of flavor text, echoed in the likes of Elvish Warrior.

truly a gorgeous card... why it's not a *****'s is beyond me. it takes something with at least two toughness to bring it down, no matter how much power it has... (first strike is perhaps the second best ability in the game) protection from white, though narrowish, is still good, and it's black, which makes it hard to kill

Mono black can still quite enjoy this guy. There are enough X/2s in magic that he's relevant even today. I wish his later edition's reprint had better art.
