I am curious as to the usefulness of this card. Anyone know of a good way to use it?

It could be worth using in a mainly black suicide deck, but other than that doesn't really fit with white.

I had him in a deck deck about nefarious lich. The deck used early on lots of black spells which cost life but speed up the deck. As such I had this guy most of the time early on as a 4/4 wall for two mana, and if the life difference became too great I attacked a few times. Later on I played the lich and then my life total didn't matter anyway.

He got worse with M10 though since you can't manaburn yourself anymore to keep control.

Also stops aggro decks dead in their tracks. :)

Doesn't seem to have much practical use, but creates a fun dynamic in group games in casual play

Play with Death's Shadow. If he's in your deck, you will already be running on very low life. Also, if running in an Ad Nauseam, he is a controlled way to lower your life.

No reason to risk so much.

I don't understand why you would use this card since you probably wont have control of it if your winning so all it does is help out the other player. But I guess if your beating your opponent so badly that you want to help them out then this is the card for you.

It seems like it has potential combo usefulness, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how, exactly.
In either case, when you're behind, it can stall or block long enough to draw up a kill card, to say nothing of if your opponent is at 4 or less life already.

I already want to try playing this in a 4-player game, just to see it hop around.

Might be good in a WB deck.

A fun 'knight in shining armor' for multiplayer shenanigans.

It's funny, because people often complain about "win more" cards. This is the exact opposite. It can help stabilise your position when you're down quite a bit, a 4/4 for 2 is really good. No, it's not going to turn a game around and sometimes it's a dead card, but I wouldn't be that disappointed to open this.

I suppose you could play it as an intimidating wall in a control deck, where you're not going to be concerned with pecking at the opponent's life total early on. I'm not entirely sure it's worth using in that capacity either, but I'm throwing it out there so that someone else can test it and get back to me about it.

I have a feeling that if the card just had the word "Defender" written on it instead it would be rated higher.
If you're playing a control deck, you are going to have less life than the aggro deck. He's a beefy blocker. It's that simple

It might be a fun card in Zedruu the Greathearted deck. A bit underwhelming in EDH, though. But still nets you 1 life + 1 card if he's not under your control (and he probably isn't, because of your repetative lifegain and defensive/political playstyle)

Not exactly the greatest combo, but in a multiplayer format it isn't bad, especially not if you build with him in mind.

Like Talas_Merchant said, try using with Zedruu the Greathearted. Also works quite well if you use one of the vows on top of him.

Peacekeeper turn two, vow turn three. Smash into an opponent for at least six damage, then hand it over and let him go to town on your opponents.

Looks like a juicy creature to have in infect decks...

One of the better blockers I've seen in a while. Great for white because even if you do need to swing with it, you can very easily remove it.

Well:
A- He swings for 4, you can do this when you're moving in for the kill
B- If you don't want to lose him after you start swinging, have a sac outlet for when you're done with him
C- He's not meant to be aggressive for awhile, he's there to ward off enemies
D- in multiplayer you'll be less likely to be attacked. as not only will the losing guy keep getting this guy (so won't want to attack you) whoever actually does attack you down will get charged by this guy soon after.

Play with Contested Warzone battle of the travelling permanents!

This guy could be good with craterfootbehemoth deck, let the opponent hit you in the early game to keep him, then do a 20+ damage swing.
