The Oracle text didn't change it at all. "Successfully cast" never meant "resolves." It's always meant "cast." The only way someone can fail to cast something is because an effect says they can't, or they don't pay all the costs.

Painter's Servant makes this a solid reliable draw engine against any deck. Otherwise, it's a solid sideboard card and ensures you will have a hand stocked full of spells and land.
