This card exploits one of banding's greatest strengths.

Indeed. Relatively high toughness for a bander. Let it soak up the damage. Would be better cheaper, old cards, modern mana cost yada yada.

When I see this card, I see Banding at it's core, it's heart, it's soul. A mechanic that was broken from the start.

There are so many evasive abilities today that banding is not broken. Not that it ever was in my opinion. Banding was never good at flying and instant speed removal could wreck blocking bands.
