Orcish Lumberjack is better- it may be smaller and a less supported creature type, but it does what clearcutter does faster- ramp your mana through the roof.

If you didn't have to tap him he'd be crazy. It would be pretty easy to get 12 mana from tapping and saccing your forests on turn four. If your big plan didn't work you'd be mana screwed but there's a good chance the other guy would be dead.
