I don't know which is more hilarious, the fact that he looks like he's about to give someone a massage, or the little flying wizards in the background. I didn't notice them at first, but my goodness my heart just about stopped when I did.
It's like they were desperate to compensate for the lameness of the effect by making it look really scary... And failed horribly. I want to see an animated version of this card where they're flapping their little arms.

The guy in the foreground would be a lot more intimidating if it weren't for the "flying" wizards in the background.

More like Facepalm Sorcerer.

Definitely the worst Gempalm creature, but the wizards flying in the background of the art are hilarious.

He looks mighty confident, though.

Stop making fun of my dad! You know full well that we are not allowed to choose our powers!

The worst of the Gempalm cycle, without a doubt. The others:
- Deal damage based on the number of goblins you have
- Cause life loss based on the number of zombies you have
- Give all your elves a boost
- Give all your soldiers a boost and first strike

All of these can win you the game. This one just makes your wizards, at best, unblockable for a turn and draws you a card. Unspectacular, and the hilarious art makes an already iffy deck archetype even less viable.

Those flying wizards in the back make this card hilariously awesome. Now I want to build a deck around him, bad though he is, just for them.

Wait... aggro wizards? Is that even a thing?

There are 24 wizards with more than 3 power. 6 of them already have flying. Of those that don't already have flying, 12 are cmc 6 or more and 2 others have to flip first.

And beyond that, nearly every wizard has an activated ability way more effective than their brute strength. When I see Azami, Lady of Scrolls hit the table, the last thing I'm worried about is that she might gain flying.

Actually, in some ways, this is the best Gempalm card. No, I'm being serious. It takes a while to accept the potentials, but consider:

"Wizard" is probably the most common type after "Human" (I think?) Don't think about this like a Green-Red Mage, who wants all their creatures to be 4+/4+ and have trample if they are striking-- think of this as your BETA plan, not your ALPHA one--

Check out all those Power 2 or less Wizards. They are pretty great cards. There's at least one Wizard Lord (though I forgot the name) AND of all the CLASS types, WIZARDS is the easiest to 'break into' with RACE Lords-- ie ELF Wizards, GOBLIN Wizards, HUMAN Wizards, ZOMBIE Wizards, MERFOLK Wizards...I think even BIRD Wizards exist and have a Bird Lord. Here is how I would suggest using Gempalm Sorceror to best effect:

U/R/G Riku of Two Reflections or U/B/R Nicol Bolas. Usually Nicol Bolas wants to play as much power as you can muster, but for flavorful funsies, what about making a Commander Deck ALL about his little minions that he coordinates?

Once you start thinking in terms of Three-Color Commander Decks and discover that it's of relatively little opportunity cost to play, say, Goblin Cheiftain and a bunch of Goblin Wizards or Ambush Commander and a bunch of Elf Wizards next to your Mono Blue Wizards, then while this guy might not be Insane, he also looks, to me anyway, clearly better than the Green and White Gempalm cards. (The Green one is honestly good, but I feel confident that Elves can just plain do better if they want to increase their attack points.)

Strait up Unblockable would have been slick, but equally useless.
This would have been more flavorful/playable as "All wizards gain shroud", just like Ghosthelm Courier.
